The User Trust Score (a.k.a "user influence") is determined by two factors which get multiplied together:
  • the weighted average of User Trust ratings entered through OnTheBlockchain
  • The certainty in the calculated average, which ranges from 0% to 100%. More ratings by more users, especially by users who themselves have high User Trust scores, means a higher degree of certainty in that average.

  • The primary function of the User Trust Score is to determine how much weight* to give to any rating by that user.

  • Reference User Trust Score: +1000 (influence equal to the Seed User)
  • User Trust of anonymous or unvetted user: adjustable
  • Min User Trust Score: 0 (no influence)
  • It is possible for the User Trust Score to be above 1000, but it will probably be uncommon to be much higher than that.

  • The scores will vary depending on your Grapevine settings, which include various parameters such as who you choose as the "anchor" or "seed" user for your web of trust, and how much trust you give to unvetted or anonymous users. On the left are scores using the website's default grapevine settings.

A low trust score does not necessarily mean that the average rating is low; it may simply mean the certainty is low because there are not enough ratings by users with high trust scores.

    * The weight of any given rating is determined primarily by the rater's User Trust Score. Several other factors come into play as well. For example, the weight will be lower if the user indicates less than 100% confidence in that particular rating.
